SUCCESS| Is English A Must In This Industry?

If every time someone gave me a rupee for answering the question ‘Sir, Is English Required/A Must for this industry?’ I would be a millionaire.

Yes.

Maybe, you did not get it the first time, but Yes again!

Its not just here, its everywhere.
You need English for any industry today. Consider English the mother tongue of the world. It is not the number of people who speak it that matter; it is the chosen language of business across the world (ok, at least India, ok at least in the upper echelons of the hospitality/airlines/tourism society that everyone seems to be a part of)

What can you do?

Talk more.

Communicate in English and you will get better.

Here are my top 5 suggestions:

Watch English TV. See channels like Zee Studio that give subtitles. It would be easier to follow the plot and the talk.

Read Newspapers. I don’t mean read them, I mean read aloud. That will force you to get your diction in order.

Talk to everyone you know in English. Everyone. Let people think it is funny, make mistakes, get used to using the Queen’s language.

Use a tape/cell phone/computer/any other recording device to record your conversations. Listen to them again and you will see where you need to improve.

Pick up Books on CD/Tape. These things are amazing. A professional records the book on to the tape. You can listen to the tape/CD. It is meant for people with special reading needs and for those who fall asleep while trying to read. You get the knowledge of a book and you get the correct pronunciation.
