First, here are the seven sins:
Gluttony,
Envy,
Lust,
Pride,
Sloth,
Greed
and Wrath.
I'll give you a minute or two to think about all the sinful things you can think of when each of those words are read.
its fine really. go on. think and smile. there you go.
Now, lets look at how each of those sins and see how they can inspire you, make you do stuff that is right, for you and for your success.
There are two ways to use these sins:
1. your own behavior/thoughts
2. invoke the power of the sin in someone else
I have listed ideas under both.
1. Gluttony
- excessive eating and drinking.
Self | eat well.
be a glutton but for the good stuff. use the good stuff (both food & drink) as a motivation tool. i.e. you will treat yourself you a really expensive meal or drink (think rare scotch) if you achieve something.
Others | feed. satiate.
find out what is that they are hungering for (think beyond food & drink to ideas, information, assistance etc) and feed them.
encourage the glutton in them to find you everytime they are hungry.
2. Envy
a feeling of discontent or covetousness with regard to another's advantages, success, possessions, etc.
Self | Envy someone worthwhile.
go ahead, envy. first, it can be very liberating to accept and second very effective to spur you to success. but here is the positive catch:
don't envy the material success, envy the individual traits that made someone successful.
e.g. if you know someone who is able to work harder or maybe read faster or deliver results using contacts, envy those qualities and then try to emulate or surpass them.
Others | create envy.
tell people all the details, share all those things that you know will make them envy you. the more they think of those things with you, the more you will attract those things.
the more they think you lead a particular sort of life, the more likely for you to actually lead such a life.
bought a new car - drive fast, post pictures on the net, let your friends take it for a spin.
create envy
3. Lust
- a passionate or overmastering desire or craving (usually fol. by for ): a lust for power.
- ardent enthusiasm; zest; relish: an enviable lust for life.
I have a tough time even considering this a sin.
Self | Lust for something
Figure it out for yourself? what is it that gets your heart racing? what can keep you awake all night? what makes you feel you are alive?
That is lust.
keep it burning and do everything in your power to fulfill it, to hold it, to command it, own it & control it
Others | Find out what they lust for, that is your power
Knowing is what will give you power.
Read the what I wrote above, if you lust for something, it will own you, until you own it. Some can become bonded to their lusts and this, this knowledge will give you power.
Know what they lust for, become the person who can help.
4. Pride
- a becoming or dignified sense of what is due to oneself or one's position or character; self-respect; self-esteem.
- pleasure or satisfaction taken in something done by or belonging to oneself or believed to reflect credit upon oneself:
Self | Sign Everything
Take pride in everything you do.
Imagine that everything you do is printed on a stamp paper and will be shown in court one day. Can you attest for it by your signature at the bottom?
No? that is what I want you to do.
Leave an imprint and leave it proudly!
Others | Never puncture anyone's pride. flame the fire instead
Have someone who is proud and obnoxious? pat them on the back more often.
have someone who cannot help but boast? give them more chances to talk about themselves and their accomplishments.
know someone who would rather die than admit to failure? don't make them. tell them how it was an awesome effort and that only if they did (what you want them to) it would be a bigger success all because of them!
5. Sloth
- habitual disinclination to exertion; indolence; laziness.
Nothing could be better.
Lazy is such a perfect way of thinking.
not living, thinking.
Self | think lazy
How can you do the same thing you do everyday, only with lesser effort, lesser time, lesser money, lesser use of resources etc etc
lazy thinking is what makes improvements in every walk of life possible.
Its usually called efficiency or something like that!
Others | Encourage it
tell them its ok by you if they can come up with something better.
make it a habit to encourage anyone working hard today to work lesser tomorrow.
6. Greed
- excessive or rapacious desire, esp. for wealth or possessions.
Self | Accumulate that that stimulates you
love art? love handmade paper? love anyone who can make something smaller and smaller and then some more? accumulate.
be greedy.
become a connoisseur.
become the one person who is known as a patron, a collector, a master and a passionate owner.
greed is good!
Others | Find it, Supply it
its as simple as that. find the what is that makes the other one salivate. find out what is it that the other one cannot have enough of. now supply it if you want to be nice. or horde it and then offer it for whatever you want.
7. Wrath
- strong, stern, or fierce anger; deeply resentful indignation; ire.
Self | First you!
you read that right.
anyone who is passionate about something, anyone with dreams, anyone with a plan or a war to win will get angry at one point or the other. to wish it otherwise is foolish and naive.
wrath is fierce anger.
that is required too.
you dont melt gold at a comfortable heat, it is melted at purified at fierce temperatures.
lose it, get angry, but start with yourself first.
something didnt go right? find out what then get angry over the fact that you did not foresee it or plan a response.
Others | Terrify them
let them know, that when wrath comes, it will be bad, very very bad.
let people know you as someone who is cool until.....
display your wrath on that which is wrong, unjust or cruel.
There.
