Eight Habits of a Highly Effective Networkers - Introduction- Part 1/10

“Do you want to be a successful networker?”
“Yes I do.”

One of the things I cherish most is my network.

Sometimes, when you’re looking for people to help you, they magically appear!

More often than not, it is the people in your network who can help you when you need something - but only if they‘re already in the network.

Some of the most successful people across the world, are the ones who are networked not just across immediate requirements, but across industries, across age groups, across backgrounds, education, race, sex whatever have you.

Networking is not a one time thing. You just don’t go up to somebody and say-“hi! I like to be in your network” and contact them 15 years later for something you need. Networking is an ongoing process.

When I started out on linkedin, or on any of the other social networks for eg. facebook or ning, little did I know then, that the passion of being connected to people who are similar in thought, who are similar in ambition and somewhere similar in the need to do good work, could engage me so completely. It pushed me to new levels so to speak.

I was looking at the journey over the last 2 years; where I’ve been networking actively on the net and off the net. And I figured, that there were probably some kind of traits or habits that are exhibited by people who are highly networked.

I have some people in my network today, who have more than 50,000 connections with them, which they can activate on demand. That means, if they wanted something done or some information or an opinion they wanted, they can go to 50,000 people across the world.

My network stretches to less than 20,000 at the moment, but 20,000 is huge ! I intend to make it better.

So I got down to writing about traits/habits that I feel an effective networker needs.

Everyday, for the next 8 days, you will receive on 1 new habit of an Effective Networker.
